Bread of the world, in mercy broken
Bread of the world, in mercy broken, that timeless text by Reginald Heber (1783-1826), is set to gentle, prayerful music with two parts sung by men, women or both with a gentle organ accompaniment. It would be a musical option during Communion or the priest’s ablutions at the end of Communion. It could certainly be repeated as time might necessitate. This lovely and simple piece contains three complete sections: one for men (low voices), one for women (high voices) or both combined in two distinct harmonic parts. Each section is 1 min 40 sec long at the designated tempo.
Used during the Communion, the Ablutions or as an Offertory anthem, your choir will enjoy singing this and you will have a sweet, beautiful addition to their repertoire to use as whenever desired.
